Telehealth services can make it easier for people in rural and remote areas to contact healthcare professionals. It often involves the use of voice or video from your mobile phone or computer.
With telehealth, you can talk to your healthcare professional without leaving the comfort of your home and reduce the need to travel. If you’ve seen them in the last 12 months, they may be able to bulk bill their service.
Using telehealth can also give you greater access to more healthcare professionals based in other areas that can help with your recovery.
If you are unwell or need to isolate, telehealth also means you don’t have to travel far or risk spreading illness.
If you have a preferred healthcare professional, check if they’re set up for telehealth. If they’re not, you can find a provider that offers telehealth consultations via digitalhealth.gov.au.
