Support for people caring for others

Where can you reach out for support?

Caring for a loved one living with heart disease can be rewarding. But it can also be overwhelming and tiring at times. Finding time to care for yourself and seek support if you need it is important.

Carer Gateway

Carer Gateway is an Australian Government program providing free services and support for carers. It offers emotional and practical services and support such as counselling, peer support groups, skills courses, support packages and emergency respite.

No matter where you live in Australia, Carer Gateway can connect you to their network of service providers.

Visit the Carer Gateway website.

Peer support

Peer support is where people with common experiences or challenges come together to give and receive support. This can help with feelings of loneliness and isolation by connecting with others who are in a similar situation to you.

The Heart Foundation’s MyHeart MyLife online community is open to people living with a heart condition and their loved ones and carers.
